Bike Trails of Plano #2: Chisholm Trail

Chisholm Trail is my second favorite paved bike trail in Plano. Like most of the trails in Plano, this is a multi-purpose trail, so you have to dodge pedestrians—I mean, politely share the trail. What I love most about Chisholm Trail is that it follows Spring Creek, so you can enjoy that beautiful view as you ride. Another cool thing about this bike trail is that it goes under lots of overpasses, so you rarely have to cross a street. You can go under the streets instead. Chisholm Trail starts at Legacy Drive, and you can hop onto it along either side of Spring Creek. You can follow it all the way down past Jack Carter Park and pool, and past the Jack Carter Athletic Fields, where Chisholm Trail intersects with Bluebonnet Trail. If you stay on Chisholm, you can continue along Spring Creek and eventually come up on Big Lake Park, where you’ll see people enjoying picnics, fishing and spending time with their families. It’s really pleasant. The trail continues past the Plano Veteran’s Memorial, and keeps going until you get to Alma. Then you can turn around and come back up the other side of Spring Creek, and follow it all the way back to Legacy. (Or, keep going all the way to 15th Street on the other side, and then turn around.) Chisholm Trail is up to 5.5 miles one way, but you can take it back the other way and get some different views. Here it is on Google Maps. Hope you enjoy the photos. In the last picture, you can see me with my Rotary Club and some friends, doing a City of Plano Fall Waterways cleanup on this trail.
